Abstract

Gothicism is a strange and dark topic. Writers use castles and the “undead” to convey the tragedies of lives and the complexities of human emotions. Gothic writers take the once beautiful and pure and transform them into the dark and gloomy. Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein opened the eyes of readers and critics to the world of death and gore. They use the Gothic narrative to express their personal experiences. Through these experiences, the authors use gothic tropes and themes to create vulgar and deranged literature.
